It's the wastegate staying open when the car overboosts. It feels like someone has pulled on the handbrake. When the wastegate closes, the car takes off like a rocket and scares the crap out of you.
I had this happen to me three times. Thankfully it never happened when I was overtaking as it is a potentially dangerous problem.
Mine was repaired when Ford found the wiring from the ECU to the VCT sensors had melted from the heat off the turbo. Once the wiring was replaced I've never had the problem since.
Mine was the first reported problem in Australia with the melted wiring but since then I have spoken to a few people on the XR6T forums and it seems others may have something similar.
