Stuck float or needle valve on that carb?

Could this free itself and what causes the float or needle to stick

Hi John, this can sometimes just happen. It shouldn't, but it can. Switch
the ignition on but don't start the engine, and you should hear the pump
run, pull the fuel overflow (vent) pipes off at the carbs and place rag
under them. if any fuel comes out, give that carb a sharp rattle near the
bottom with, say, a 17mm spanner and see if it stops it. If not, then it's
time to strip the carbs off and get them on a bench for a good old strip and
cleaning session, replacing the float valve ass'ys at the same time. Good
luck.

Float gets itself a bit crooked in the float chamber, getting like me old and
decrepit, jams up. same true of needle valve. If it is the float stuck tapping the
float chamber with a small hitting stick will usually/sometimes free it. It might
never get stuck again but more likely it will wait for a more inopportune moment
to do it again. Don't half sod the mixture up, gets a bit rich don't you know,
don't do a lot for your consumption neither.
