Hi guys,

How close do the vic roads guys look at things such as seat belts during inspection. I can't buy the colour i am after but i can get the colour in a 6m roll. Was just thinking about getting an auto trimmer to change the hardware over and stitch the new colour onto the belts. Is this a bad move?????

Unless your car looks suspect they won't look. All they checked on mine (Dandenong, Vic roads) was chassis no and engine no. Asked if I can see over the scoop. Which I can without issues. Followed them back to the counter for my rego sticker and plates. This was only 12mths ago.

No ADR compliance = no insurance pay-out!
Klippan seat-belts will make them in whatever colour you want for about the same price as standard belts. See your local Repco store to contact them for you. Mal.

Never mind no insurance payout - how about face planting the dash or steering wheel embedded in chest when the stitched up belt breaks - there is a reason they are strict on stuff like this - SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES (if they remain intact...

i think i would rather have pink seatbelts than be dead if that was all i could get.

i have been in a car that stopped suddenly ( an escort on drugs tryed to park in my glove box ) if i didnt have the seatbelt i doubt that i would be here now.

Hmmmmm yes yes i do know the importance of seat belts, thanks for the advice. I rang Klippan today and no they dont do any colour because they told me. I am after white so if anyone has suggestions on a company or person who can do them for me it would be greatly appreciated, and please no comments about white. Everyone says WHITE why white they will get really dirty. Well thats just going to have to be my problem then.

I'd be more concerned about the effect of UV on the white belts - it seems to eat other white things at an alarming rate...

I know that some Sprintcar drivers were getting their belts rewebbed somewhere in Sydney and they were approved by the Sprintcar council.

Try calling Tunks Speed Shop, they might be able to point you in the right direction...

i think that American Autos in Homebush / Sydney used to advertise seat belts in different colours.

black is the most UV resistant colour but if you have decent window tint on your windows then UV should not be a problem.

There must be someone around who has white webbing. As much as I hate to say it; you may have to change your belt colour. I'll keep an ear out for anything that may help.

It's a long shot, and probably costs a fortune, but I wonder if any of the yanks (no offence to any one... just a slang term) have anything available. I haven't been able to find much on the net so far.
