Re:Shocks & Failed MoT.
Yesterday morning,I was meant to take my Disco back to the garage that
failed it's MoT,these were the same people that said that I needed a new
shock absorber, because of an oil leak and my rear brake caliper was leaking
brake fluid also.
I was quite concerned about the way I felt that I was being treated, when
trying to get an estimate on parts, time and labour cost, all that I managed
to acheive was the labour cost, that came in a £28 per hour.
prior to takiong my Disco there,I went to my Local Halfords store, that has a
Franchise piggy backed onto it run by the AA,I asked the technician there if
he would take a look at the aforementioned problems and he kindly placed my
vehicle upon his hoist and meticulously scrutinised both sets of shocks and
all the brake calipers, returning an emphatic 'Nowt wrong there mate',Of
course I was ecstaticat this news & bewildered as too why the original
garage decided to say there was problems, when they must have known there
wasn't.
Although I have now paid for Two Mot's at a cost of £88,I cannot imagine
exactly how much the unessesary repairs would have cost me,where I now also
imagine that I could have been fleeced by any amount.
The lessons learnt here are really valuable,I will not return to the
original garage, and will deter other people I know, that may look at any
repair work done there.
And I should look at going to Night school for a crash course in car
maintenance.
Thanks for the tips and replies.
