Although the quality of our vehicles is better than years past, there are still numerous problems with our vehicles. Want the equivilant of a Taurus, than that would be a Stratus or the discontinued Intrepid. Both of these cars have even worse problems with front brakes. The rotors either warp or rot out. How about the transmission solenoid switch valve issue on both of these cars. How about the delayed engagement issue going into gear on a cold start, which the fix is to remove the transmission and replace the front pump. How about the shrinking door opening body weatherstrips on the Intrepid. How about the water leaks on the Intrepid. How about neglecting your oil changes on your Stratus or Intrepid with a 2.7L V6 and having your engine blow up at 28000 mi.. Need I say more... By the way, have you ever changed your transmission fluid on your Taurus Jfargus??? A note about Police Package Intrepids, they have problems with the brake fluid overheating from severe use and causing an underhood fire.

i see you say high mileage thats fair enough to say stateside but downunder our cars tend to stay on the road to a rough average of 200,000 km and some alot longer. as pricing is alot dearer we tend to hang onto them.
but i have repaired mtrs with t/chain failures with less than 50000km + numerous electrical faults and autos i wont even get involved with i refer them to the yellow pages as i wouldnt wisha auto rebuild with warranty on any of my fellow coleagues shops. and the prices are double plus to start over a std style box. i never like to bag a car and most are good when well maintained but with a taurus even overservicing and checking wont help this poorly engineered vehicle
