Seven Mustangs

I hate morning phone calls that start with, "You gotta get over here
right now!"

Aargh. It's Sunday at the crack of dawn, which I'm pretty sure is
about 10:15 or so. It's my Shivvy buddy Don, parts guy extraordinaire.
"Blah blah blah old guy died blah blah blah sold two-acre plot blah
blah blah Joe's clearing it off blah blah blah I bought all the cars
and trucks left behind blah blah blah and there's seven Mustangs over
there."

One of the eyelids pops open. "What kind of Mustangs?" "Old ones,
your kinda shit. Goin' over there now. Git movin'".

Crap. I need more cars like I need herpes. By the time I get over he
already has a '69 on the trailer. F-code 302 with a top loader behind
it, coupe. Dried weeds in every cranny, even in some nooks, too.
Factory scoop on non-ram hood with 302 badges still on it. Hmm. Mighta
been a Grande.

Amidst an overgrown back yard replete with Shivvy trucks and a Baja
Bug and all kinds of weird things is a row of Mustangs. Joe is clearing
off ground with a bulldozer. He casually shayshays up to a Versailles
and flings it out of the way. I check it out. 9-inch disc brake rear,
complete 302, and a burned-up interior.

The next Mustang is a '66 GT coupe, ain't a straight panel on it
except the trunk. A-code engine, auto, power steering, disc brakes, all
badging, and the grille/fog light stuff are there. Next to it is a '67
coupe, a 289 automatic car sporting a perfect turn-signal deluxe hood,
the exact one that's missing from my GT/CS. Another '67 next to it,
this time a straight-six car.

Three Mustang II's followed. Two are V6's with power racks, one is a
2300 with a manual rack and disc brakes. Visions of race car front
clips go through my head. Slowly, I realize I could also wing the
Versailles rear end and one of the power disc racks into the Falcon.

I'm on parts overload. Don gives me a price for the four 60's cars.
I'm undecided if I can turn a profit, seeing as how I'd be wanting to
keep some stuff. Lots of scrap metal there. Three more SB's and a 6. He
wants 100 bucks for the Versailles rear, and we haven't discussed the
MII parts yet.

Did I mention I want to move to Mexico?
