Re: Cheap Korean tires

After my initial set of Tiger Paws on my Focus went, I put on some
Sumitomo Srixon4 (from TireRack), which only lasted 60,000 with regular
changing. The Tiger Paws though, only lasted me about 40,000. They
were chopping even though I was changing them as suggested.

When I just replaced the Srixon4's, I wanted something comparable but
thought about another set based on Consumer Reports tire reviews, and
settled on Yokohama Avid TRZ. They have a great warranty and because
my local shop was out of them and tried to bait and switch me into the
lower quality Yoko's, they gave me free balance/rotation for their
life.

So, I have had pretty good luck with random Korean brands.. and you
might find them locally instead of on TireRack, and get your free
rotation at least. Lots of local shops will install tires you have
shipped to them but they may not spring for the free rotation....
