Re: What's involved.....?
mate you got off light the dealer where i am charges 100bucks a hit. wheels have to come off disks off and the shoes need to be roughed up with emery and the drum roughed up and the lip removed. the shit part is the adjustment you have to back the cable off and adjust the brake with the disk off because ford in there wisdom has not made the hole big enough to adjust it with the disk on. so it goes on and off about 3/4 times for each side then you have to adjust the cable thats the easy part. then hope it actualy holds the car when its all back together. around 45 mins work or more if thers a big lip and the disk cant be pulled off easy. much cheaper to not drive with the park brake on. we get some cars that need it every service and others that never need it at all. it has to be in how its driven. as for not authoriseing the work the adviser should of called you! but if it was not holding at all thay may of adjusted it as a saftey concern. if i have the time i sometimes do an adjustment while doing the service and dont note it on the job so the customer gets a freeby. hope that cleared it up a bit
