EF XR8, 140 000km,noisey just like rear wheel bearings so I changed those which where heavily water marked, now the noise is halved but still there, is there more bearings in this area that bugger up and give make this noise?
Now that I looked a little closer I see this is a front wheel drive. Did you replace the races with the bearings or just the bearings? You may want to check the front bearings and axle joints. Never mind the carrier and pinion bearings. Its not a rear wheel drive.
All the XE and XF stuff kind of throws me me every now and then lol.
I did rear wheel bearings, I am changeing the bearing in the front of the diff on Friday, if thats not it then carrier bearing, n ot looking forward to that (lsd) but Ill see how it goes, process of elimination
Be sure and replace the crush sleeve behind the bearing and torque it down. You can usually get by using the old one buts its not a real good idea. Check the u-joints for any slop. That will also creat a lot of noise.
EF XR8 is a Falcon rear wheel drive with a V8 based on the mustang 5.0L of the early 90s. It has a live axle so your 1st comments were correct sand1.
