2003 Ford Taurus

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus SE 3.0, automatic. When I start the car there is a loud chirping noise coming from the front end. The loud noise goes away after the car is warmed up but is replaced by a constant low chirping noise. I have no idleing problems, loss of power, or check engine light. I have read in other posts that it might be the cam synchronizer/sensor or both. If I let this go on to long will it cause a problem. Please Help.
