Re: apparent overheating

I'm still having problems with my fiesta with over heating.
when the car idles everything is fine temp gauge is 50% up the gauge.
when the car is underload i.e you are driving on a motorway for while the temp gauge goes into the red.
what i am noticing now is when it goes in to the red on the temp gauge the heater in the car goes cold.
i know this sound strange but this is what is happening.
can any one tell me what this sensor is and what it does that i have put a red circle around (those pipes plug into a sensor before they plug into the heater matrix)
