Re: apparent overheating

hi there. i've been reading your posts about your car over heating and mine is doing exactly the same. the temp goes into the red, the heaters blow cold and its been doing my head in. this has only happened since my heaters were only blowing cold and wanted them fixed for the cold winter. i phoned a place called ford parts which is a huge scrap yard that specialise in ford parts, new and old. the guy told me over the phone that i needed a new heater valve and that it was very common.
so i bought this part and when i tried to change it, the other one had sort of melted and snapped off and got stuck in the pipes. i tried to get it out with a screwdriver but it had turned all mushy and just crumbled away inside of the pipes. i know now after reading your post that i have the same problem. that a bit of plastic is blocking something. so really my question is how do i clear it and get the bits of plastic out. many thanks. ross
