I've got some questions about my EF. Sorry if they've been asked somewhere else before - but I'm new to thie Ford Forums thing too!! Anything you could possibly answer would be of GREAT help and i woule be MUCHLY appreciated!!

Okie, firstly... It's a 95 EFseries 2 and it's done 239,800 (there abouts) km's.

Should I be worried about it having that many km's? Or is that average?

I've noticed that my cars "rpm" is to high for it's KM's...

For example, I'll be going 40-50km's and I look at my RPM and it's already just past 3000 !!! That's not normal is it?? How can that be fixed?! It freaks me the f**k out!!!

This morning, my car got to 40 km's and wouldn't go any further, it just stayed at 40 km's no matter HOW hard i pressed my foor or antyhing.. It EVENTUALLY (after about 5 minutes driving 40 km's) got to 55km's but that was it - it refused to go any faster.... I got told that it's running 4-5 Cylinders ALTHOUGH it's a 6 Cylinder car.. How the f**k does that work?? Did I make that happen? How? I wanna know - so that after I get it fixed - I will know NOT to do it again!! Also - is it possible for me to fix? Like could it be the Spark Plugs or what ?

Cheers guys
Hi
About your car, it's not really important how many km it has travelled, what matters is if it's been looked after properly or not. I've seen many of these cars (as taxis) that have gone around the clock once, meaning more than 999 999 km, so, as long as you look after it, it'll just keep on going. I've got one of these (EF II XR6) with 185 000 km, and other than the head gasket i've never had any major dramas with it.
The term "running on 4-5 cylinders" is used by people to indicate a misfire (missing spark/fuel/compression) and this could be described also as the car is not smooth when accelerating, it shakes, vibrates, jerks, and so on. On your post, there's nothing to indicate a misfire, rather, you say the car revs fine but doesn't move, or at least the way I read it is the rpm doesn't correspond to the road speed. That's usually an indication of a gearbox that's slipping or that has gone into limp mode, which could also be the cause of the harsh gear changes. If this description is accurate, take it to an auto specialist and drive the car with him and ask for his opinion. worst case scenario you'll need a reco or 2nd hand box.
cheers
