Re: 1968 302 4V/2V heads???

hi. a change to 302W 4V heads will give you a higher comp ratio and therefore will help create more torque thru your entire rev range. make sure the extra comp is suitable for the fuel you are using. (you may need a higher octane fuel) the increase in torque/power is not huge but it will help and it's pretty easy to swap heads so if the price is right, go for it. make sure you pull them apart and check for cracks, flatness and check the condition of the valve guides. the early windsors had a few variations in valve train components so make sure the springs, rockers and pushrods all work with your engine combo. also, just a small ammount of port work will help these heads work much better, even on a stock engine, it need not be an expensive flow bench job either, just a basic gasket match and a smooth out in the valve bowl area is enough to make quite a big difference. thanx.
