Personal opinion is the the US Ford line-up has been lacking in interior design & standard features for sometime.
Late nineties saw Ford OZ attempt to import the Mustang. While a stunning looking vehicle externally, the lack of interior fitout meant the vehicle failed to find a market with all those except Mustangophiles.
Remember that afetr RHD coverserion & importation cost the car was competeing in a significantly different market to is US home.
Standard fitout in the OZ based Falcon/Territory is quids in versus its US counterpart. Also believe that the European based Fords are lacking a little in this area too.
