The weight of the vehicle would contribute to the noise on the components. You mentioned that you weren't sure where the noise was coming from so if you jacked up only the front, it could be coming from the rear. It's most likely front components as there's more going on down there, such as tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints or perhaps a brake component is loose. Make sure your power steering fluid is at the correct level; as manufactured pumps are built the same, but once and a while one runs noisier than the other.

To get a better understanding for yourself, roll the windows down and try to pin point the noise. You can also try to run the vehicle in park, open the hood and get a friend or neighbour to turn the wheel lock to lock.
