2005 explorer (6cyl) problems

2005 explorer 6 cyl, 28k miles:

My wife's parents bought the car for her before our honeymoon. On our honeymoon, while driving approx. 45 MPH, the "low tire pressure" warning came on. Suddenly, the oil pressure gauge dropped all the way, I lost power steering, and a number of other warnings (such as check engine) went off. The motor continued to run, and aside from power steering, I was able to drive to the side of the road (power brakes were fine). I checked the car, it seemed ok, and I started it up again. Everything was fine.

It happened again a few days ago, except this time, the first warning was "check fuel cap". Then, two seconds later, I lost power steering, the oil pressure gauge dropped, etc. Luckily, I was in a turn lane (going less than 15 MPH) and restarted the car without problems.

I then took it to the mechanic yesterday, who informed me that no error codes were generated and that he could not reproduce the problem.

Has anyone heard of this happening before, or does anyone have a suggestion for what I need to do?

Thanks,
Jon
