lol i figured out what it was. The door wasn't forming a tight enough seal when closed, so the mechanic took the door off and bent the hinges in a little, now the door closes much tighter.
carol, go to the door on your car, when it's closed from the outside, if you can put your little finger almost in the gap at the top, then that's the problem. you shouldn't be able to get anything in that gap.
