You should use the type of ATF specified by your car's manufacturer. Probably a Mercon V. Check the owner's manual or some times they stamp it on the end of the transmission fluid dipstick. Changing the fluid yourself is not difficult, but it can be a real mess so it's probably best to leave it to a qualified service technician. If you have money to burn Ford makes their own long life, high performance synthetic fluids for most applications.
