If your after a commuter car I'd cross off the V6 unless you don't mind the added operating costs. I4 with 5 speed auto averages 8.8L/100km in 50/50 city highway driving or approx 26mpg. My taurus (which is heavier with the 2V version of the same V6 engine as in the fusion) averages 12L/100km in 50/50 driving. Or roughly 20mpg US.
