Heater air control problems
Greetings,
Before I take my 2007 Ranger to the dealer I want to verify I actually have problems. Searching the threads indicates a possible problem with the air door controls.
Issue #1: Sounds like I have a vacuum leak at the A/C-heater selection control. I can hear a hissing noise and wiggling the knob will make the hissing louder or softer depending on which way I turn it. After stopping the engine, the noise will continue until all vacuum is gone.
Issue #2: No matter what setting I select on the heat side, the majority of the air flows through the defroster vents. If I turn the selector to 'off' there is hot airflow through the defroster vents at highway speeds and cold air flow under the dash on the passenger side. When the system is off, leaves blow onto the floor from somewhere under the passenger side dash. I assumed the HVAC system air intake was the cowl under the windshield, but there is no way leaves could be getting through those holes.
The A/C side air control functions correctly and will freeze me out of the cab.
This is a 2007 Ranger with 18k miles which I bought new May 2007.
