1994 Escort LX Rev Issue
I recently acquired a 1994 Escort LX hatchback , 4 cyl 5 spd trans...and it has some issues. The one I'm trying to figure out now is when I press the clutch to change gears, or when Im driving at a normal rate of speed in 4th gear, it tends to try to accelerate on its own. When I push in the clutch, it revs up to about 2500 RPM s, then after a few seconds settles back at 1100. If its cold, forget it, it will continue to rev up, go back, then rev up again. Im thinking TPS, but thats pretty costly and don't want to send it in only to have that not fix the problem. Ive been doing some reading and alot of people have this issue with this particular car, but no one has had a definite answer yet.
