Oh well - You probably figured it out by now!!
The 5/16 hex drive will but is not supposed to come out with the dist. If it does, try to catch it before it drops back into the engine as you might have to pull the pan to retrieve it - been there, etc, etc, etc
If you are using the Ford SVT HD drive shaft for the oil pump, it may be in upside down. There is a short and long end that goes in the pump/dist. You want the short end in the pump. If not using the HD shaft, there is a clip - and you can move it easily
