Low Pressure in engine after gasket work

I did a head gasket job, and everything seems to run well at acceleration and cruising, but struggles at idle. I have two cylinder misfire codes for cylinders 1 and 2. I was afraid I had an issue related to either the block or the heads (heads were pressure checked and machined). I took it to Pep Boys (mistake) and they said it was plug wires. I changed them and no change. I went back, a different tech ran some tests and came to the conclusion that there was nothing wrong with the ignition system or the emissions system. He checked the engine pressure by placing a pressure gauge in the back of the intake manifold (in the bottom of the sensor to the side of the EGR solenoid). The pressure was 5-8 at idle, and he said it should be around 20. When we reved the engine, the pressure went up to 20. He said that it's definitely mechanical. Any ideas on what the issue could be? I checked the pushrods and rocker arms again, and made sure that I reset them with the valves closed. Help please!!
