I realize this is an older thread but thought I'd help:
Check the distributor advance curve; you mention an electronic upgrade but if this is in the OEM 1969 distrbutor then the advance is next to nothing. Full ignition advance with your combo should probably be somewhere around 32-34 BTDC@3000 rpm. Also, if it were my engine I would also install a larger carburetor such as an 850 CFM Holley double pumper, List #4781 (this is the
smallest carb I'd use on your combo).
