Anything above cold up to about the center of "NORM" is normal and desired.

However, with this particular engine, make sure the engine actually heats up. This 3.8L is well known for blowing out little bits of head gasket between the coolant line and the cylinder.

When this happens, the coolant level starts to drop, but does so pretty slowly. Since the water pump and the temp sensor are mounted at the very top of the flow path, the results can be pretty disastrous if you aren't paying attention. If the temp gauge is still pegged cold after about 2 minutes, pull over before the engine melts.
