Door Ajar / melted (replaced) fuse panel

Hi there, 1st post here...

I am currently having a 'door ajar' light, when all my doors are closed. (off and on for a month).

I read on edmunds town hall that its a contact and to spray wd40 or similar into door jam.. (haven't tried that yet).

-has anyone had this problem, and where are the contacts ? in the door (access by removing the door panel) or in the hinge area?

also, I want to tell you about a melted fuse panel on my 03 5.4 xlt.

I had a 'interlock' failure about 8 mo's ago, where the car would not start, and I got a buzzing sound when the key was turned... it turned out to be a relay in the pass door fuse panel. I replace it and kept a spare... it happend again, replace relay, and again... it was HOT! I finally drove around w/ the panel door off to keep it cool, or it would fail when driving... no power and start to buzz. (like the old seatbelt warnign buzzers).

anyway, it finally failed for good, and got stuck by side of road... towed into dealer, and they swapped out panel ($700!!!) 4 hrs labor (BS!).

I spoke to wrench and he said he's see 3 fuse panels fail all around 100k miles (I have 90K).

bottom line is get a spare relay (3 of same in a row). and it it happens, you can replace the fuse panel yourself.

-no explation on WHY a fuse panel would fail in normal wear....

OK,... my question is about the door ajar... anyone have this and a solution?

TIA!
