Re: Fuel pressure.

Ok so I'm working on this probe. It is a 94 GT with the V6, and it has been to 3 different garages and the dealership. Then they called me. The fuel pump and a bunch of other things have been changed to try and diagnose it. "replace and see" technique by the garages and even the dealership.

I get there and it starts up fine. Every time. According to the family that owns it, the kid will drive it to work, work all day, come out and try to start it, but to no avail. He'll get a ride into work the next day, work all day, come out, hop in and it starts right away and off he goes. This has been going on for a while now.

Cranks over every time but doesn't run every time, only every so often.

Fuel pressure regulator switch is fine, fuel pump was changed in october by dealer. Diagnosed a couple different options, and then I found it.

Turn the key to the On position, fuel pump doesn't come on. (no 2 second prime). Turn the key to the Start position, and while trying to start, the fuel pump does get power, car turns over and off ya go, usually.

Second symptom, which I would like you to verify if yours does the same thing, may be related, maybe not. After the car is running, take the oil cap off and the car dies. There isn't a big vacuum in the engine, or abundance of air, but if you remove the oil cap, or the pcv valve from the valve cover, the engine dies.

I'm looking for any ideas as well. I'm a mechanic, i have mechanic friends, I've gone to the dealership, no one has a clue about these two symptoms. Fuel pump works but doesn't have the 2 second prime, and if the oil cap is removed, engine dies and won't start back up until it is put back on. :confused5: as well.
