Hi, all my XR6 has developed an air leak( it is sucking air) but only at idle.. it runs very rough at idle but once above that it runs like a dream... any ideas before i start pulling things off and looking ofr a pin hole would be appreciated.. thanks, also, when i turn the engine off, for a brief moment i can hear it suck air
I dont have any idea's but you need to check all the rubber air lines to check for splits. Sometimes a spray bottle with a little water can help to track down a small airleak. Spray some around areas that are suspect and you may hear it.
thanks Lance, am going to give that a try in the weekend.. i suspected the idle speed control.. the noise seems to be close to it but very hard to pinpoint
Often the inlet manifold gasket at number 1 or number 6 cylinder at the lower part of the manifold. The manifold nuts loosen over time and the bottom of the gasket burns out. Take a length of windscreen washer sized tubing and stick one end in your ear and the other end under the manifold and if this is the cause you should hear the sucking noise while its idling.

yes , it sounds like it is coming from the area of number 6 inlet so i'll give that a try:thup:
