Well the unexpected did come - in the form of side mouldings for project Grizzly and the entire front bumper of the next Laser.
The side mouldings of project Grizzly (which I didn't see) were completed about six months ago, and after hearing this it suggests that the development of the 4x4 Ute is well under way.
I tried squeezing more info out of the guy I was talking to but he would say no more because of confidentiality agreements with Ford.

Regarding the Laser, he said that the bumper was from the next model and didn't seem to think that it was from a previous or the current model.
I saw it in the flesh and thought it looked strange because it had a big hole on one side of the airdam - which suggests that it is a sports model and possibly from Tickford, I just wish I had a camera with me because it was in a corner of a room sitting up next to other bumpers.:oo1:
Great work 99!!! Seems to re-inforce my suspicions that the AWD ute isn't that far away...
