I'm trying to get my front door trim off, and the middle screw in the inside door handle is ABSOLUTELY rooted, and I can't get it out.
I've tried drilling it (i've got a basic power drill), and that doesn't do nething. I tried chiselling a little dent to I couldn't unscrew it and that didn't work.
How the hell am I going to get it off? If I took it to a mechanic would they get it off for me? If I can't get it off, I'll never be able to install my front speakers.. noooo..
I'm guessing you tried drilling the centre out....
Instead just drill the head off the screw with a drill bit the same size as the head of the torque screw. Make sure the other 2 screws are undone and I guarantee you when you pull on it.. it'll come off. Then you have the fun of getting the rest of the screw out... hehe
if u can get access to an air file then you can file the head of the bolt off...workshops should have them. Or else do what Jack said and break it and buy another one.
BREAK THE THING!!!! let out all your anger on the plastic around the srew and get that bitch of a thing off.... then chuck in ya new speakers!!!!!!!!!! and listen to some tunes as you drive down to the wreckers!!! or ford of coarse!!!!
I had exactly the same problem when I went to install new front speakers. I tried everything, in the end I just drilled little holes in the plastic around the dodgy screw and was able to get it out with plyers. That was a while ago now but I still haven't replaced the handle. One day...
Thanks for all your help guys, I ended up getting the little prick out.
Well I didn't get it out, but I drilled the shit out of it, until the head snapped off. Those gold coloured screws are tough!
The actual screw part is still in the hole, but I don't need it as it has two other screw holes on both sides and I just covered the stuffed screw with those little black plastic caps that come with the inside door handle.
Luckily I didn't have to break the handle, cuz like Kenaz, even though I'm hardly ever busy I probably wouldn't of replaced it for months!
