xc drum brakes

I'm sending my xc in to get some work done on the rear brakes soon and I was just wondering if there are any things I should specifically look for.

A vehicle inspection showed up that the drums were too large (diameter) and the fluid needs changing, so those will get done.
is there anything else i should get done when it goes in?

also while i'm on the topic of brakes, i was told today by an auto electrician that the xc's didn't have a brake fail warning light on them. there is a light for it on the dash and it seems a bit wierd to have the light and no system for it.

interior diameter is 257mm and 256mm acording to the inspection. They said it is not roadworthy like that, has to be 254mm.

maybe it's a way to get these older cars off the road.

i wouldn't mind getting a second opinion, but i don't like the idea of shelling out another $70 to get told the exact same thing. And if i don't do as told, i don't get a roadworthy certificate.

Does any one know what i should expect to pay for the brake work?
