I don't see why low range is necessary for a 'soft' roader. The idea of these vehicles is to sit somewhere between a sedan and a large 4WD.
If you want low range for serious off roading, go buy a series off road vehicle!
Low range means whole new gearboxes, and all the engineering/development costs associated with that.
