Leaded to Unleaded convert on '66 Stang

Hello everyone,
I have just aquired a '66 mustang with the 289 and it is set up to run on LEADED. I do not wish to pay the 10 bucks a fill up for the additive, and was wondering what was all involved with converting it to UNLEADED fuel. I have heard i need to change the valves, valve springs, valve seats and guides, and the heads. And have also heard i need to lower compression ratio (dont know if by heads or pistons) and will see a power loss if i continue this endevor. Well i am just cerious what all is actually needed, and how much of what i know is actually true. Any help will be appreciated, and i thank you in advance.

John
