My 2L 4 door Escort...

Yes, I know the drivers door is a slightly different colour to the rest of the car, that's because the previous owner wanted to get the door mirror off and instead of using the correct tools, decided a angle-grinder was the best method, so he cut the metal around the mirror to try and get it off... :wtf:

Since these pictures were taken, I've given it a good clean so it looks a bit better now. No pics of the 2 litre in the engine bay yet, mainly because it still looks awful. But compared to the 1600 in my previous escort - WOW! My partner drove it the other day (legally, I've got one of those unregistered permit things for it), and said that she was suprised by how much power it had, and she's sure it'll easily beat her 4.0i EB GLi Falcon.

It's only got 185's on the rear at the moment, and in any gear other then 4th if you put the foot down the rear tyres screech in protest. Not bad for a 4... :s6:

The thing that's taking the most time to get used to is the short-shift gearbox... There'd be no more then 1 cm between each gear!

Oh, and I do have the front spoiler/under tray/whatever you want to call it for it, just don't have it re-attached yet. I'll do that once it's registered - I don't want it to look too flashy when it goes to the RTA...

Then, once it's registered, I'll get serious about selling the 1600 2-door Escort I've got...

gonna hot it up?
I certainly plan on it! Nothing too major - at least to start with. I'd like to put a good set of extractors on, a better exhaust system and probably a better carb. That ought to keep me happy, for a little while at least... ;)

Want a set of Hotwires for it ?
Sounds interesting... If you're serious, then once I've got it registered we'll talk, ok? :s6:

No worries.... i'm selling a set of 13x6.5 fronts and 13x7 rears for $200. Tyres are 205 & 225 at about 90%.

Actually, I just found out that the tyres I've put on the rear (175's on stock rims, as you can see above) will fail on a roadworthy, so I'm after a new/second hand set for at least the rear. I went and got a quote the other day for a set of 175/70/R13 Falkens to suit - $160 including fitting, balancing, etc.

So, $200 sounds pretty good to me in comparison. Would my car pass a roadworthy with those on, or would they be too wide? And you're in Sydney, right? So what would be the best way to organise something like this - I don't think trusting Australia Post would be the best way to go about it!

The whole lot, including spare parts and car went for $400..
Looks like someone got a bargain... So, what made you sell the Escort? The Red Mk II had me drooling all over my keyboard, that was one nice looking escort, and would easily have blown my little 4 door into the weeds!

Oh yeah, this is a comment left for me by my girlfriend:

You did a great job restoring that car honey, I'm so proud of you!
It runs so well and has so much power! :)
So when and where are we going to race?
Anybody here really think I have a chance up against an auto 4.0L MPEFI EB II Falcon?

They'd definately pass roadworthy in NSW... the tyres are 90% and they sit inside the guards. As far as freight goes I have no troubles sending things north (I have contacts) but have no idea about sending south. You might want to look into it and see if its worth while.

So do you mean you're selling 4 tyres (2 x 205, 2 x 225) already on a set of hotwires for $200? Or are the tyres seperate to the hotwires?

If it's the entire set (hotwires & tyres) then I'd be happy to try and organise a trip up to your place to pick them up in person! But I'm not sure what the girlfriend would think of that (we'd have to take her falcon), so I'll look into freight...

I have family up in Albury, but I doubt that's going to be much help - they loath both Sydney and Melbourne...
