I've never had a single issue with the driveshaft. The double cardan joint in the rear driveshaft is pretty darn strong and Ford was smart enough to install grease fittings in the joint and in the u-joints to help you keep everything in top shape......which they don't always do for some odd reason.
If the "clunk" is excessive, it would be a good idea to jack the rear of the vehicle up and check the 3 u-joints, the double cardan joint, and the slip joint for excessive slop to be sure your problem isn't somewhere else. Check to be sure you don't have excessive backlash in the rear end as well.
Before you crawl under the vehicle with the rear wheels off the ground......get some jackstands under it!
