MY AU6 and UNICHIP
Hey Guys,
On friday i had APS install a unichip for my AU I6. I have been lucky, as after each mod i have done i have been able to have a run down the 1/4 to get a good idea of what each mod has done for me. I thought i would share with others the details so they can learn from my experience and see what would be best for them.
Heathcote in January - Mods: CAI with BMC Filter - 16.2 about 86mph (from memory)
Heathcote in May - Mods: Pacemaker Headers and Electronic Shift Kit - 15.84 at 87.60mph
Calder in June - Mods: Cats Back exhaust - 15.57 at 89mph
Latest addition has been a Unichip...and although I have not yet raced (hopefully in the next couple weeks) i can definately feel the difference in daily driving. The Unichip has delivered what i was expecting, greater increase in throttle response, smoother gear changes...not to mention my favourite change.....the car pulls much harder than it used to.
I can feel a difference in power throughout the throttle range, whether flat to floor or just slight touch of the pedal. On the way home (very very wet) overtaking was great...as you can see on the graph, the greatest increase
came between 3800rpm and 4250rpm which was very noticable when overtaking, the power was there when i needed it.
Probably the most important part to me was that i was well looked after by APS, I dropped the car off in the morning and had it back by lunch...all the work that was done had been explained to me easily and i honestly believe the Unichip to be an essential tool for anyone looking to increase their power.
Now i gotta get down the Calder and grab yet another PB. i'll definately keep you updated.
