More expensive per litre maybe but they use many less litres per so many kms.

Also modern turbo diesels aren't giving away much to petrol in the kW area while comfortable outgrunting them in Nm especially in everyday low in the rev range driving which is good for hauling lardy ass cars off the line.

Also better for low speed crawling along for anyone who wants to test the AWD capability of their T's
