I was thinking the IAC and maybe the coolant temp sendor? Not getting a check engine light so don't think there are any codes. Any thoughts?

Help! Convertible header gasket leaks and it is new.

I am hoping I can get some advice. I suspect my 91 Mustang convertible top is out of adjustment. I recently bought the car. All the gaskets were ripped to shreds- so I replaced them.

Here are the problems I have:

The convertible top will not latch to the header panel without hard pulling.
The header gasket has a gap that I can almost stick my hand in.
I cannot get the windows adjusted right to the roof and the front A pillar gaskets without affecting one or the other.

I suspect that the roof may not be the original for this car as the original was white per the build sheet.

Could the top frame be from a year that will not work with this car? Is there a way to tell?

The reason I suspect this is that I have found other parts that were swapped. It has an 85 7.5 rearend in it and the car is a V8. The trunk lid was from a different year as was the seat belts and quarter panels. I have swapped it all back to the correct style and year for the car.

I tried to take it to a bodyshop and they did some tweaking that made it worse, charged me for it and left me with a top that wouldn't latch at all and said they wouldn't touch it any further. I have since put all the adjustments back so it will somewhat go closed.

I have searched the net and there is nothing for 4 hours that has any qualifications with convertible tops.

The car is a sweet ride except for the roof issues. It leaks wind and rain bad. I hope someone can help as I have a Ford manual on how to adjust it- but it is worthless or I can't figure it out. I have rebuilt engines, superchargers, and transmissions- but this has me stumped!:bowd:

Thanks for all replies in advance. I have a 2002 mustang with the 3.8L engine. my gas cap like comes on and the 50 miles or so later the check engine light comes on and the p0455 code is set. I have replaced the gas cap and I disassembled the evac system cleaning all connections and inspected the hoses and vacuum lines and the light still comes back on after driving about 100 miles. What is the most likely part to be out on the system and is there a way for me to check it at home?

*Ford Mustang Pictures* (http://www.car-pictures.us/ford/mustang/)

---Quote---
In a Ford Racing-fueled show of goodness that will mark the unveiling of the Baja-ready F-150 SVT FR Raptor XT race truck, the Dearborn automaker will also take the wraps off of the 2010 Mustang Cobra Jet factory drag racer at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas.

The new car is based on the refreshed 2010 pony car and serves as a continuation of the 2008 CJ that revived the company’s 40-plus-year-old participation in NHRA Stock and Stock Eliminator competition. Our experience with the previous Cobra Jet showed the car to be great fun and quite exhilarating, with a conservative 11.5-second, 130-mph pass down the quarter-mile during our first and only time behind the wheel. Ford says it’s good for low 10s.

For the 2010 version, the automaker says it had more time to refine the package, and thus created a more capable and versatile car. Like the 2008 model, the 2010 CJ starts as a Mustang V-6 body in white, to which are added fully adjustable, drag-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes, a trunk-mounted racing fuel cell, a NHRA-certified roll cage, and a fortified Ford nine-inch axle, among other go-fast bits. Changes for 2010 include optional intercooler cooling fans and a switch from Goodyear/Mickey Thompson rubber to Hoosiers mounted on Weld Racing wheels. Also new is the addition of a rev-limiting, launch-control function for CJs with manual transmissions. Previously available only through the aftermarket, the feature allows drivers to select at which engine speed they wish to launch at and then limits rpms to that point until the clutch is dropped.

A supercharged, 5.4-liter V-8 with a cast-iron block and a conservative 425-hp rating is the standard engine, with optional powertrains including a “475-hp,” aluminum-blocked version with a larger supercharger, as well as several naturally aspirated V-8s. A six-speed manual gearbox—complete with a burnout-ready line lock—carries over from the 2008 model but can be upgraded to a race-prepped five-speed manual or three- or four-speed automatic, the latter fitted with a transmission brake.

Only 50 examples of the 2010 CJ will be built at the automaker’s Flat Rock, MI, assembly plant, with base cars costing about $75,000 and heavily optioned versions nudging $95K. Production starts in January. While Ford’s website says the initial allotment is already spoken for, the company promises to provide additional versions in the future. And for those who missed out and can’t wait for the next iteration, all the necessary components are available in Ford’s Performance Parts catalog to turn any 2010 Mustang into a Cobra Jet. Check back for more SEMA coverage and additional shots of the latest CJ form the show floor.

I have had this 2004 3.8 liter mustang since may of this year. I bought the car used and for a couple months I have had this poping noise coming from the front left tire. Now just today I replaced the bearings and the rotors and put brand new brakes on, And Iam still getting the noise. And it only happens at a low speed and when Iam braking. If anyone can help me that would be great!!

new to the 4.6 mod motor. i have a 4.6l SOHC engine and transmission for a 2004 mustang that we purchased from Summit, pn FMC46L. We are going to install it into a 49 ford pickup. what do i need to convert this engine to a return style fuel system? we are going to use a fuel tank assembly from a 5.0L 96 mercury mountaineer, will the pump work for this?

thanks in advance for the advice...

Hi,

I'm looking at fitting a dual 3" Magnaflow exhaust (15817) to my 65 Mustang converible. Magnaflow says there are some modifications that need to be made to fit the convertible as it has a large square support brace under the transmission, has anyone fitted one on the same car and what was the modifications required?

Thanks.
