My friend has a 2000 Nav. with the 5.4 dohc,he bought a 5.4 off ebay that is sohc. My question is what problems might we encounter installing this if it is even possible?

I know this might be reverse engineering but its our only option at this point.

Thanks in advance to any reply.

Coolant leak HELP

Whats going on fellas, Im in need of help, my 99 Navigator(4x4 5.4)has been having a significant coolant leak. Right away I thought it was the water pump and having 100k miles suggested I should replace it as well with the radiator. Well to my surprise as I took off the old pump it was completly dry in the front but had a pool of coolant directly behind it on the block itself. Ok so I figured it was the seal that went bad. I installed the new one and at first no leaks until about 3hrs later and only drove it around my street for a bit and resulted with a pool of coolant under the truck, doesnt drip in the front but in the middle by the transmission area-guess it funnels and drips there. If someone has a clue please lmk also if someone could provide with the schematics of the cooloant system for my truck that would be greatn Thanks in advance!!!

02 Lincoln Navigator Wiring issue.

I have a 2002 Lincoln navigator I bought the vehicle from a used car dealer. At the time I didn't notice and I don't think they noticed that the main wires that run to the back of the vehicle down the back side of the wheel well were hanging down and were being rubbed in half by the tire. The truck started dying when the wheel would cut into the frame. Since that has happened the place where I bought it from put the wires back together, but it still didn't start. I took it to ford had it diagnosed and had a new pcm put in it. Ran right for a couple of days and then started acting funny, oil pressure light coming on and overdrive light blinking and check engine light on and running funny. 7 codes were coming up all sensors saying check connector and wiring. When I would turn it off it would not start for 10-20 min. After that it would start and run fine. Now it’s back to where it will start after a certain period of time but the lights are not going off and it won’t run long enough for me to drive it to a shop. Any advice would be helpful and a ballpark price to fix.

So like my previous post I just bought an 03 navigator and there are a couple small problems, but the price was too good to pass up. The sunroof will not open, actually I'm not even sure Im pressing the right button. Is it the black button with the 2 arrows and the 1 2 3 on it? I thought this might be the homelink button but that is located on my visor. Anyways the sunroof will not budge and the fuses are fine. It also sounds like it is cracked (vented open) when I go down the highway but when I look at it on top it looks shut tight, could this just be bad weatherstripping? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

When i press the lock button I can hear a click coming from the fuse box under the glove box, or from that direction. When I press unlock I do not even here that click. The guy I bought it from told me that Lincoln told him if an actuator went bad in one of then none of them would work, but I don't know how to tell if this is the case or even which one is bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. O and the fuse for the door locks is fine.

2005 Expedition with electrical issues

I've got a 2005 Expedition XLT that seems to be having intermittent electrical issues. I've owned it over a year now. Twice this year it would not start and had to be towed to the dealership. Both times I'd turn the key to the On position, all the dashboard lights would come on, everything appeared okay, but when I'd turn the key further, nothing. No sounds, no noises, nothing. Battery checked out fine, it was like a kill switch was turned on.

The first time they blamed it on the remote starter I had installed 3 months prior, ripped it out, it started, they charged me $235 and I was on my way thinking all was okay.

Six months later (Oct.), it wouldn't start (both times were on the weekend) I had it towed to the dealership, they left my key in the drop box, and it started right up the next morning for the guys at the dealership. They kept it for a day or two to try to recreate the problem but of course it kept starting up just fine, and it scoped out fine. I picked it up and they told me to call them should it happen during business hours so they could come to it and put a scope on it.

It "almost" happened one day last week when I was leaving work in a hurry to run a business errand. I went to turn it over and nothing, turned the key back, turned it over again, nothing. Tried it one more time (thinking I don't have time for this right now!) and it worked.

Then, last weekend we were leaving to drive into town (12 miles away) and I knew I needed gas (needle was bet. 1/4 and E), got 2 miles from home and it ran out of gas! NO "Low Fuel Level" light, NO warning, showed I had 50-some miles left, just bam -- out of gas! Thankfully my husband was picked up by the local sheriff as he was walking back to the house. He brought 5 gallons to put in it and then put another 25 in it when we got into town (I thought it was only a 27 GL tank).

Ever since I've owned it, every now and then when I fill it up the gauge will show empty for a few days and then one day it'll register again. Last winter on a very cold morning the driver's side window almost didn't go back up, and I had the motor replaced thinking it was bad. Well this morning I it was 27°, I rolled the driver's and passenger's side windows down to clear them as I was making my way down the driveway and they took forever to go back up just like that morning I thought the motor was bad in the driver's side.

Does anyone else have these strange electrical issues with their Expedition, or is my just haunted?

TIA,
Paula

I have a 2005 Expedition that has RSE, and the 6 CD Changer in dash unit with the audiophile sub. This was the year they did the switch to Phase II plugs(which I have).

My question is, can I put a newer Factory Navigation Unit in the vehicle and retain all that I have in there now?

I have been searching, but have not been able to come up with an answer.

Thanks in Advance

I have an 04' Navigator and I need to replace the climate control head unit. I purchased a used one at a junkyard, but cant seem to understand how to pop out the old one.

I have replaced the radio in this car so I know how to open up the central console, but it also seems like there is enough room to get to what I need to by removing the kick plate cover on the drivers side next to the accelerator and reach up to pop out the head unit, But it seems well seated, and not easy to loosen to remove...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

03' navigator engine problem

Recently purchased a used 03 navigator and we love it. Some issues with it as with most used cars. It has 70k miles on it and stayed at dealer for two weeks while they struggled with air bags (they replaced all, and struts and still leaked)...they resolved issues when they found leakin top...seems ok now.

But the major issue is this, though maybe normal?
Last night I started it up and the SUV began shaking and was running REALLY rough like on 7clys or like putting a wrong wire on a piston (i have rebuilt many motors)...I ran to the store and it was like driving a blown motor.
I turned off motor down the street and restarted it. It ran perfect.
hasnt happpened since...

The other issues are the Key lock in sterring wheel comes apart...sometimes when we relase the key the whole thing comes out...

and the passenger cool seating does not work...
and the dvd rattles like crays which ill play with today...

so any inpuit would be really appreaciated...

oh, and how you put down middle seat at 2nd row, i CAN NOT fine a levle or anything other than moving foward...:driver:

It has 70k miles on it and stayed at dealer for two weeks while they struggled with air bags (they replaced all, and struts and still leaked)...they resolved issues when they found leakin top...seems ok now.

But the major issue is this, though maybe normal?
Last night I started it up and the SUV began shaking and was running REALLY rough like on 7clys or like putting a wrong wire on a piston (i have rebuilt many motors)...I ran to the store and it was like driving a blown motor.
I turned off motor down the street and restarted it. It ran perfect.
hasnt happpened since...

The other issues are the Key lock in sterring wheel comes apart...sometimes when we relase the key the whole thing comes out...

and the passenger cool seating does not work...
and the dvd rattles like crays which ill play with today...

so any inpuit would be really appreaciated...

hello guys. im from the philippines and the month september hit our country with a powerful storm. my expedition submerge. im dyi it now.

1st remove the electrical on the dashboard. cleaned it with wd40 and cleaning components. everything is cleaned

2nd remove the spark plugs, drained the oil, fuel

3rd remove the water from the piston by enganging it so the water splash.
but still it has some water. suck it with my compressor.

4th compressed the piston with air. and put back the fuse panel under the dashboard so i could start it on the ignition key. the 1st 8 times i cranked it works fine but when i tried to crank it again it wont crank anymore. do you think i should remove the starter and check it for cleaning and repair?

btw i didnt put the plugs for now because it stil have some small water :D

thank you very much guys
