They installed a Remco rear drive line disconnect and tell me that it should be towed in 2hi with the tranny in park. I am concerned that the vacumn assist front hubs will lock in while engine not running, causing bad things for the transfer case. Both Remco and the Ford dealer say that will not happen. Any body know which is so. I never use the four wheel drive, but would like not to disconnect it.

Just figured I would throw this out there for any of you that have the 2011 with the 6.7L diesel. If you call into you dealer they can check you vin and see if your truck is up for the pcm update to bump it from 735tq to 800ft lbs and 400 some odd horse. The update is goin out as of 8/31/2010.

I just purchased a 1993 F-250 Diesel with the E40D transmission. the truck sat for 2 years prior to purchase, so I am working out the bugs & and a few ground squirrels! Anyhow It blew out the front transmission seal (somewhat expected) so I replaced this and changed the transmission filter (it was shifting hard since the purchase) This seemed to cure the hard shift problem however the transmission doesn't move the truck heading up hill when starting out. is also seems to take a lot of engine RPM to get the truck moving up hill. Another oddity is that when attempting to start out I blow the speedometer fuse. I also noted that the overdrive button and cruise control don't work. I am not sure if these are related problems or not. All of these symptoms all occured before the seal and filter change I was hoping that some of this is related . I would appreciate any assistance.

1990 Ford f150 pickup truck with a 4.9L fuel injected 6 cylinder engine.,

I'm at a loss now. I don't know the history because the person giving me the truck doesn't know either. (I did some work that's not relevant here). Relevant here, I changed the fuel pump with a junkyard one. It took a lot of work, particularly removing the one in the junkyard.

Now I need to get it running properly. I can't get it to respond the the throttle. that is, when I get it to start, it's hard to "gun" the engine; in may cough and die. But after it warms, it seems to respond to the throttle better.

I tried the self test (Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test self-test, with "ST in" grounded ) and with the engine off I got 556 meaning fuel pump circuit. I didn't do the test while the engine running because I did't know how then. But I just learned you start the engine, then ground the wire ST1.

And where is the Schrader valve to do a fuel pump pressure test? I found the fuel rail but where is the valve? Is it in the back? Anybody have a diagram?

And what's my next step? I think it's a pressure test, right?

Any suggestions at all will be appreciated.

I have a 2005 F-150 4.2L 4X2 Super Cab with close to 80K miles. About a week ago, after hauling my horse trailer for a distance, I turned the truck off, and a few hours later upon re-start, the fail-safe light was on. (I had to look it up in the manual to find out what the little wrench meant.) But the truck drove fine.

When I reached my destination (aprrx 5miles away), I turned the truck off. Let it sit for a min. And then re-started it. No fail-safe light.

It's been fine since then. Towed my horse trailer this past Friday, no problem. Then towed the trailer again on Sat, and drove the truck a few times since then. But last night, I turned the truck on, and there was the wrench light again! Turned it off, let it sit, then started the engine... And no light...

Any ideas? Could it be functioning as an idiot light? Or should I be concerned?

When I press in the clutch it has about 4in or so of play before it grabs. Then when you go to let off it, as soon as you barely release the truck try to jump forward. Then it disengages way to quick. What might this be from?? After talking to people more knowledgeable than I one said its most likely the slave cylinder. Is my slave cylinder internal or external? I have the 460 engine. Any help would be appreciated:MmM:

Thinking about a truck I looked at tonight, its the same truck except it has the v10 in it. If I am not mistaken it only has about 62 more horsepower which does not seem like alot more. Any takes on this motor? The good, The bad?

And also if any one knows does the v10 triton motor have the same spark plug configuration as the 5.4 does that has caused me so much grief?
