95 Contour gl

I have looked through all the threads in contour section and can't find my problem.

My 95 keeps blowing the brake light fuse...even put a 30 amp in and it still blew.

The brake shift interlock quit a month ago and I rigged that so the shifter will work...

I recently noticed the cruise control doesn't work either...it worked fine before.

Could it be the brake light switch on the brake pedal or a short?

Would a brake light switch malfunction cause the short?

Any ideas or suggestions....I'm trying to avoid an expensive dealer visit.

Thanks in advance for any help:thup:

Just bought my daughter her first car. 98 Contour 2.0L Zetec, 135k. Noticed it shifts from 1st to 2nd kind of hard. Trans fluid looks and smells fine (if it didn't I wouldn't have bought it). After 2nd it shifts fine.

Searched the forums and didn't find anything relavent other than one post that suggested cleaning MAF sensor. I'm very mechanical, but not very familiar with tranny issues.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

96 Mystique - Start and stall when cold outside

Hello,

I have a 96 mystique and last winter my car would start and have a rpm scale from 2000 rpm's then drop to 500, this could happen for a bit then stall.

As a student on a budget I'm trying to do this myself, I cleaned the EGR but to no avail.

Also, passenger side floor gets wet when it rains, common problem?

One last question, after replacing drivers side axle, the traction control comes on spontaneously between the middle gears but not on high gears. Is there a different part # for a car with or without traction control? I am not sure if which I put in.

Thanks

Hello, I own a 1996 Ford Contour GL and I've been having problems with the car not creating a spark. I was driving it one day and it just shut off on me and didn't start again. The engine will crank but it wont turn over. I want to try to see if the Crankshaft position sensor is the problem but I am having trouble locating the part. If anyone could explain it to me and possibly show some visuals that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
