'04 CVPI Check Engine Light

Every time I fill my Crown Vic with gas, the check engine light comes on and it throws the evap code.

Why the HELL does it do that EVERY SINGLE TIME I fill the gas tank?

What code do you get? Does it happen as soon as you start it? does it go away?

Re: '04 CVPI Check Engine Light

RTG143 is right...there are a bunch of evaporation emission codes. Each code has a specific fix. I am assuming as soon as you start the vehicle, the CEL in the dash stays on and when you scanned it, you got a code. If you do, please provide it and I will search the fix for you. However, if the cel appears briefly and goes away, that is normal.

Have you considered reading your owner's manual? I know - it sounds crazy, but give it a shot!
