Ok so the torque converter started making a brutal noise in my car once in a while while stopped at red lights with car in D and foot on the brake. Then one morning I went to put it in reverse and it jumped back and the engine stalled. So the torque converter is toast. So my first thought was to pull it out and put in a new torque converter but when I removed the pan I did find some shaving from when the torque converter blew up. It still shifted perfect and drove fine until I took it apart. A rebuild seems to be very very pricey (approx 2k). I have had no luck in junk yards because apparently 05 is one year only? The trans code is HA. Does anybody know if anything else will fit? I would be willing to swap tail shafts if need be. I am also considering installing a new torque converter, new filter, flushing the cooler and crossing my fingers...it only has about 130,00kms (80,000 miles). Any advice would be great.

They are pretty much year only. They're programmed with the ECU and other components. You could try for a used one. This is for wrecking yards. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market They aren't a weak spot. Unusual to go out so you'd be safe getting a used one.

Well I could not find a transmission close to me for a reasonable price so I decided to roll the dice. Had the torque converter rebuilt and I had a tranny shop check the pump and replace a few bushings and seals. They said everything they took apart looked ok but I would be taking a chance with the valve body, shift solenoids etc. So I also flushed the cooler and put a new filter in. Now so far it works just perfect!
