1990 country squire wood removal

Hi all.
New here from the UK.

I'll do intros in the proper section later!

But, this is a project vehicle-may go down the overhaulin route with this one

Anyway, the wood effect down the sides and tailgate are in poor shape. Anybody got any recommendations for removing it? Heat gun?.... i assume they are just vinyl graphics?

Whats the chance of getting it off without damaging the paint?

Photos up soon.
Thanks for any reply.

Andy.

Re: 1990 country squire wood removal

Heat gun is the way to go. It takes a lot of time but does come off. With the Police graphics I've removed, I'd take a new razor blade and slide it edgewise on very smooth concrete to dull it without notches in the blade. Then put the blade in the handle to scrape the graphics when hot. Chec the temp that works best with the graphics you're removing to hot doesn't work good either. Then to remove the glue, I used a product called Rapid-Tack. You spray it on the glue, let it set 60 sec. and use the same blade to scrape it off.
