1997 p71 weird problem.....help!

Hello everyone,

I am a brand new member and I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 1997 p71 with 140k miles on it. Today, I was changing the spark plug wires and found something weird on the back two passenger side cylinders. The end part of the wire that that goes down into the head was covered in some kind of liquid. It was kind of oily but I don't believe it was oil because it smelled real weird and wasn't as dirty as my oil currently is. The rest of the wires weren't like that at all. All the end parts were just as they are supposed to be. I dont know what the deal is. Do any of you?

THANKS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Was the vehical serviced before you changed the spark plugs? Iv had some people say put some oil or lubricant on the boot to slide it correctly. Or its dielectric. Or perhaps it didn't seal right and some water or stuff got in there and changed due to the heat. Just throughing ideas on the table.

Re: 1997 p71 weird problem.....help!

hey,
thanks for your input. The last person to service the car was me and I definitely didn't grease up hte boots. the only thing I can think of is that like you said...they didn't seal quite right last time I serviced it and some water got in. But why in only those two? I just have a more moribund mindset and the first thing I thought was the head exploded or something.lol

THANKS!
