1998 wipers stuck in up position when turned off
A family member has a 1998 GM. The wiper motor had gone up some time ago and was replaced. Once the motor was installed, whenever the wipers were turned off they would come to rest in the upright position, as if they were fully extended. Everything was checked out supposedly, and the motor was replaced again with no luck. Once in a great while they will lay down in the proper position once turned off, but it seems to be luck of the draw. The owner has been cited by police for their wipers not functioning properly, even though the wipers do the job, just they stand up instead of going down once tuned off. I don't think it makes sense ruining wiper blades on dry glass to hope they lay down.
I did not do the work, so I have no clue as to the quality of the "mechanic" that did the job. Has anybody ever seen or heard of this? Does anybody know what is going on? Or was it just an idiot that replaced the 2 motors, and really it's a simple fix?
