2 questions stumbles on hill and ac and heater - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hey guys my name is chris and im new to this forums and new to ford's crown vic and mgm. Ok the first question is about my 00 crown vic what it is doing is stumbling when voing up a hill it runs like a sewing machine on flat ground but once you hit a small hill the temp light will start flashing and the car will start stumbling but once you get back on flat it smooths out but if you hit a big hill the temp light will flash and then the cel will start flashing and the car will die but it will start right back up and the cel and temp light will be of and it will stumble on up the hill. The second question is about my 03 mgm. It have a digital climate control in it but the air or heat will on blow in defrost vent or the floor.

Take it to Autozone and see what codes they find. What is the heater doing?

cant get a code because as soon as the check engine light comes on the crown vic cuts off and when you start it back up its gone. as for the mgm the ac and heater wont blow through the cabin vents just blow in the floor and window defrost vent even when you switch it to the cabin vents

The light doesn't have to be on for codes to be present. The heater sounds like a vacuum leak.

A partially blocked radiator or timing out quite a bit can cause that type of problem also .

Ex's 1990 Crown Vic wouldnt hardly make it up hills & stalled alot . Changed out fuel filter & it helped some . Had to change fuel pump cause filter screen on it was blocked & pump was full of junk . Wonder if fuel related & running lean causing temp gauge to raise?

Cajones--Did you ever get the temp light/stumbling issue resolved? My car is having similar issues, and so far we've been unable to find the cause. Let us know if you figured it out. Thanks

Addressing your HVAC control problems; the small "O" rings inside the control head need to be replaced. It's a common problem, easily fixed.
