I have a 2000 ford crown vic old cop interceptor has about 92,000 miles on it. The problem is the car wont stay on unless i keep my foot on the gas. This has happened one other time and i managed to drive it a bit and someone it fixed itself but now did it again. it turns over and starts fine but if i dont hit the gas it just shuts off. Does anyone know what could be causing this? All help is apprciated

Needs the idle air control valve cleaned, methinks. Very common problem.

I think if it idles ok and dies as you give it gas, then I would look into the mass air sensor. And inspect your fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure can cause this.

Idle Air Control as mentioned above. 99/100 times with these symptons on these cars it's the IAC. I've replaced two on my '98 with 165k miles.
