confused 2000 Grand Marquis LS Windshield Wiper Question

I've been driving a Grand Marquis LS since 2000, with 106,000 miles on it. Car works great and I love it. Just one problem, the windshield wipers.

The factory installed ones were not that hot (constant screeching against the glass).

When those died, I walked into AutoZone and was so fed up I thought buying the most expensive Bosch wipers would do the trick. Those were even worse, and still are bad.

Unless it's pouring rain outside, I really have a hard time seeing through my windshield.

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass product to clean it and my windows (inside and out, I do notice more visiblity after using it), but still my wipers just love to make noise against the glass.

It's annoying, and I'd prefer not to hear it anymore. If you drive a Grand Marquis, what do you use to knock off the snow, ice, and rain on a daily basis?

Use the plain old ANCO wipers. Don't use refills !! Go ahead and get the whole blade. Most of the time you have to replace the wipers at least 2 times per year. That lifetime stuff is CRAP. I've been suckered into that junk too much and spent too much money. The plain old ANCO blades are the best bet. Of course thats my opinion.

Alright, I'll see what the ANCO wipers do for me.

I did go to the junk yard and get the whole wiper arms, just to make sure that they weren't the problem. They did the same thing so, then I got the Anco blades and they do just fine. If you still have problems with the Anco, go get new arms and that should correct the problem for good. At $6 apiece you can't beat it.

With winter aproaching I thought that I would revive this thread. I really love Michelin windshield wipers. I have jhad these installed in both of my vehicles and they run silent even over dry glass, and they sweep water so efiecntly. They are about $10 a pair at Wal Mart.

Re: 2000 Grand Marquis LS Windshield Wiper Question

I'm sure others will agree, but over the last 20 years I've noticed a difference in the quality of wipers myself. A set of wipers use to last an entire year. Now it seems they barely last through a season, which basically parallels an above post where someone mentioned you will be replacing the blades at least twice a year. The cost of wiper blades have increased quite a bit, too. They all look great in the packaging, and most will work well for the first week. After that, it seems to be a crap shoot.

Here in Canada (possibly the U.S., too) there is (was?) a manufacturer of wiper blades by the name of Triden. They use to make a great product - but don't let their past fool you. These wiper blades are horrible. Take your chance with something else....

I use Rain-Ex wiper blades on my Crown Vic and my Voyager and they are the best I have ever used. I have conviced others to try them and they were surprised how well they worked.
